For his benefit on 1 May 1751, when he lived at Mr Waiter's, chemist, at the Golden Cross in Russell Street, he acted Squire Richard in The Provok'd Wife. That night he shared gross receipts of £90 (less about £50 house charges) with Miss Minors. In his third season at Drury Lane, 175152, he acted Blister in The Virgin Unmask'd, Charon in Lethe, Formal in Everyman in his Humour, Caleb in the first performance of Foote's entertainment Taste on 11 January 1752, Tubal in The Merchant of Venice, Sexton in Much Ado About Nothing, and a role in Harlequin Ranger.
